Yes, it's me again - I'm just being insanely obsessed with Virginia Woolf again and cannot stop myself.

It's been a while since I've seen The Hours entirely and read the books, it's been a few months since I watched the Virginia Woolf-fragments. Recently, something occurred to me. In the book/movie, Virginia commits suicide at the end, which means we speak 1941. Angelica, being born in 1918, is 23. Why is she portrayed as a small child? And why does Virginia not have one grey hair? Why is her hair as it was when she was younger, and not the way she wore it towards the end of her life? Same goes for the boys, btw.

And besides The Hours - what's up with Virginia Woolf being an anti-semite and marrying a Jew at the same time?

And besides that: my new wallpaper, homemade

A few weeks ago, I was at my local library and I wanted to see if they had some new Virginia Woolf-stuff (as they haven't got very many of the English versions of her books, they might've purchased them by now). To my surprise, I saw there was a new book: "Vanessa & Virginia" by Susan Sellers. I brought it with me, but only got the chance to read it now. I'm only at page 75, but it reads very fluently since I started today after having finished Robert Harris' "Lustrum".

Has anyone of you read this book (Vanessa & Virginia ofc)? What are your thoughts?

Hey,

I am new to the community and of course I had heard about Virginia Woolf before, but it's the first time I got really interested in her. I wonder what is best: to first read about her life and read biographies and then her literary work or the other way around? Thanks!

Thanks to all who voted in the recent poll; my personal favourite, Mrs Dalloway, was the clear winner but Orlando, a close second favourite of mine, received no votes! Poor Orlando.

Anyhow, I thought you might like to read a poem I wrote about Virginia Woolf over at my blog. Please let me know what you think.

Your mod here again, I've just changed the layout of the community so swing by and have a look. I've also added a section to the sidebar called "Interesting posts" where I've included some links to the most interesting posts in the community since its creation. I'll be updating this as more things get posted so watch this space.

"She looked at the steady light, the pitiless, the remorseless, which was so much her, yet so little her, which had her at its beck and call (she woke in the night and saw it bent across her bed, stroking the floor), but for all that, she thought, watching it with fascination, hypnotised, as if it were stroking with its silver fingers some sealed vessel in her brain whose bursting would flood her with delight, she had known happiness, exquisite happiness, intense happiness, and it silvered the rough waves a little more brightly, as daylight faded, and the blue went out of the sea and it rolled in waves of pure lemon which curved and swelled and broke upon the beach and the ecstasy burst in her eyes and waves of pure delight raced over the floor of her mind and she felt, It is enough! It is enough!"

What do you think, in which way does Virginia Woolf influence our lifes today? How far has she affected women or is an ideal for them?
I think it's interesting to know what you think that she has changed through her books & life.

If she lived today, in 2007 - who would she be? what kind of job would she do? How would she spend her free time?
Thanks for any opinions!

I know this has been asked before, but I can't find the answer at the moment, I'm hoping that you would be so kind to tell me.

May 18th I'm going to London and I would love to visit some places related to Virginia Woolf.

Could you please help me into a direction? I've googled of course but don't seem to get what I need exactly. I'd rather ask the experts :-)
